ADMISSION RULES


1. Admission to NIIFT Diploma programme is strictly on merit as assessed at the entrance examination. NIIFT's entrance test is conducted as per the following procedure.
2. The written examination is conducted in the first half of the year and consists of the following tests:

FASHION DESIGN (FD) / TEXTILE DESIGN(TD)

(1) General Ability Test (GAT) UG

(ii) Creative Ability Test (CAT) UG

GARMENT MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY (GMT)

(1) General Ability Test (GAT) PG

(ii) Managerial Ability Test (MAT) PG

KNITWEAR DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (GMT)

(1) General Ability Test (GAT) PG

(ii) Creative Ability Test (MAT) PG

The written examination is planned to test the knowledge, skill, ability and aptitude of the candidates. The details of the above tests are explained under "Guidelines for the Examination".

3. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of performance in the written test, are required to appear for situation test, Group discussion and interview. A formal communication will be sent to the short-listed candidates on the basis of merit. NIIFT does not publish result in News Papers.

Note : Institute reserves the right to shift or cancel any examination centre at any point of time.

  • No negative marking is made during the entrance tests.
FOREIGN STUDENTS
The admission to NIIFT Programme is open to foreign students as well as NRI Students on the same terms and conditions as applicable to a local candidate. The foreign and NRI students should apply to NIIFT by filling in the prescribed form available at NIIFT, Mohali . The seats will be offered on first come first serve basis whether they have appeared in the entrance test or not.The foreign students are required to pay US$ 4000 as fee for one academic year consisting of two semesters. Hostel charges will be additionally paid on actual basis.

Candidates seeking admission under this category should apply in the perscribed application form. The duly filled in application should be sent to NIIFT, Mohali along with following documents:

1. A letter from NRI sponsoring the applicant.
2.An atteseted copy of relevant pages of passport and bank statements of the sponsoring authority.
3.Demand draft of US 70 or Rs 3000 in favour of NIIFT, Mohali payable at Mohali
4. A passport size photographs duly attested by Megisterate/Attorny and a proof of being a foreign/NRI/NRI sponsered candidate
Application complete in all respects should reach the office latest by 12-07-06

IMPORTANT NOTE

1. A candidate can only opt for one course offered at NIIFT. However, he/she can apply for more than one course on a seperate application form.

2. Each candidate for the entrance examination shall fill up the admission form in his/her own handwriting and send it under registered cover superscribed Admission Form [ for whatever course applicable ] complete in all respects to the Executive Director NIIFT, Mohali Pb. The forms received after due date will not be entertained. The institute does not take any responsibility for delay or loss of form or correspondence in postal transit or by courier.

3. The candidate must read the instructions carefully before filling up the form.

4. The candidates are advised in their own interest to submit their admission forms complete on all respects. Incomplete forms are liable to be rejected.

5. The candidates belonging to SC & ST are required to submit to attested, duly verified copies of their caste certificate along with their application forms.

6. The attested copies of all the certificates/degree details, marksheets of the qualifying examination passed by the candidates should be enclosed invariably along with the form. However the final eligibility will be checked at the time of Interview/Situation Test. Original Certificates should not be enclosed.

7.The candidates submitting detailed marks card with grade point system must also append the relevant conversion table(s).

8. Candidates will have to appear for written examination for GMT & FD at the centre finalized by Institute. Those selected in the written test will be invited for Situation Test, Group Discussion and Interview. Performance of the candidates in the written test and interview will form the basis of their selection.

9. Reservation of seats in each programme for SC /ST & Physically Handicapped candidates is as follows: [ Provided they meet the minimum requirement ]

Schedule Caste (SC) : 15%
Schedule Tribe (ST) : 7.5%
Physically Handicapped (PH) : 3%
Foreign National/NRI : 7 seats(for FD,TD,GMT,KDT) & 4 seats for FRM

10. Candidates will receive their admit cards in due course of time. In case of visible delay the candidates are advised to immediately contact the Office.

HOW TO APPLY

The desirous candidates may submit the duly filled in Application form alongwith a Demand Draft in favour of the NIIFT Mohali.

NOTE: The candidates appearing for their final examination in the year of the Entrance Test can also apply provisionally.The admission however will be provisional and subject to their obtaining defined eligibility by 30 June 2006. Prospectus containing the forms can be purchased from NIIFT, Mohali by Hand. Postal requests are also entertained.

NIIFT may reject incomplete forms. Separate Application Form for each course should be submitted/posted so as to reach the Executive Director, NIIFT B-68, Phase VII, Industrial Area, Mohali, Punjab by NIIFT will reject the Application received after the due date. No communication will be entertained in this regard.
